Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common Family Media Manager questions
Getting started
It's our own private family website. You can look at family photos and videos, read news and stories, and add your own. It isn't Facebook or Instagram: only people Bob has invited can join.
You need an invitation from Bob. He sends you a link by WhatsApp, Facebook, text message, email or QR code. Open the link, choose a user name and password, and press Register. Bob then checks and approves your account, and you can log in.
Your account is waiting for Bob to approve it. He usually does this within a day. If it's been longer, use Ask a Question and he'll sort it out.
Send Bob a message using Ask a Question, and he'll set a new password for you.
Inviting family
Invitations are sent by Bob, so that only people the family knows can join. Send Bob their name and a way to reach them (mobile number or email) using Ask a Question, and say whether they're family or a friend.
Uploading photos
Log in and choose Upload from the menu. Give your upload a title, for example "Isla's birthday 2026", then pick the photos or videos from your computer or phone. You can add a note for Bob. Your photos appear once Bob has approved them. Bob decides who can see them when he approves them.
Yes. Choose Create Post, write your news and add a photo or document if you like. You choose who can see it. Bob approves posts before they appear.
Privacy: who sees what
Every gallery and post has one of four settings:
• Public: anyone who visits the site, even without logging in.
• Friends: everyone who is logged in, both friends and family.
• Family: family members only.
• Private: only Bob and the person who uploaded it.
• Public: anyone who visits the site, even without logging in.
• Friends: everyone who is logged in, both friends and family.
• Family: family members only.
• Private: only Bob and the person who uploaded it.
When Bob approves your account, he sets it to Friends or Family. Family members see everything marked Family, Friends or Public. Friends see things marked Friends or Public.
Sometimes Bob shares a photo or video with one person, even though it's normally kept to a smaller group. It then appears in your Shared with you gallery.
Your photos and videos are kept on our own private website host, not Google or Facebook.
